Why I Love Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

There is something so special about experiencing the Halloween season in Disney World. The decorations, the energy, the candy- it is one of my favorite times to be traveling to the theme parks in Orlando. I know what you’re thinking… “It’s only May, why is she already talking about Halloween?” Because tickets for Walt Disney World’s special after hours event, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are officially on sale. This is my favorite after hours ticketed event that Walt Disney World hosts. It is truly an event for all ages and an amazing way to enjoy Magic Kingdom in a unique way.

The Basics

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party runs select nights from August 11th to November 1st this year. Ticket prices range from $99 to $199 per ticket depending on the ticket type and event date. Guests who purchase a ticket for the Halloween Party will not need a standard theme park ticket. With the Halloween Party ticket, guests will be able to enter the park as early as 4 PM on the date of their party. Guests can enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the park, unique Halloween Character greetings, special PhotoPass Magic Shots, Halloween themed shows, and lower wait times for attractions.

Trick-Or-Treating

One of the coolest things about this party is to be able to say you went trick-or-treating at Magic Kingdom! Upon your arrival to the party, guests receive a bag to hold all of the candy collected throughout the night. It is a fun souvenir to bring home from the party, too. During the party, guests can follow a guide map given upon their arrival to hit all of the trick-or-treat stops. Guests can do as much or as little trick-or-treating throughout the party as they’d like. You’d be amazed to see how much candy you can come home with! We’re talking POUNDS here.

The Costumes

People do not take their evening at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. While not required, a ton of guests opt to show up in costumes. I myself have gone as Ursula in a group of villains with friends, Belle with a group of fellow travel agents all dressed as princesses, and Mike and Sully with one of my closest friends! Guests really show up and show out for this after hours event. Sometimes I like to just grab a specialty Halloween treat and watch guests go by and see all of the amazing costumes. It makes for some great photo ops, too.

Special Character Interactions

There are very few things I love more than meeting Mickey Mouse himself. But there is something even more special about meeting him while he is all dressed up in his Halloween best! At Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, guests have the opportunity to meet a ton of characters that you might not normally find out and about in the parks. Jack Skellington and Sally, Jafar, and Elvis stitch are just a few of the characters you can find at the party. Guests can experience shorter wait times to meet certain characters than they may find on a regular park day because of the limited number of tickets sold.

PhotoPass Magic Shots

If there is something you must know about me, it is that I LOVE Disney PhotoPass and the Memory Maker package. I think it is an absolute “Must” for every trip to Walt Disney World. Because this is something I love to utilize while in the parks, I take every opportunity to take unique Magic Shots during the Halloween Party! From pictures with the Headless Horseman to posing with some hitchhiking ghosts, if you love special pictures be sure to hit all of the locations. Each special photo spot will be marked on the map distributed upon guest’s arrival. Be sure to set aside some time to hit at least a few of these!

Shows and Entertainment

There is a ton of special Halloween themed entertainment at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Guests can enjoy villain inspired shows and spooky fireworks throughout the party. The Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular is a fantastic stage show featuring Winnifred, Sarah, and Mary themselves. The Boo-To-You Parade will have you enamored as the themed floats and entertainers come through the park. My personal favorite is stopping to see the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet- the spooky version of The Dapper Dans will have you singing and laughing the night away! When attending this party, I like to prioritize the shows and entertainment since they are so special. But, this is totally up to the guest!

Shorter Wait Times and Holiday Overlays

For the guests who are not super enthused by the character interactions and Halloween entertainment, they can take advantage of the short wait times for rides throughout Magic Kingdom! Some of the attractions even have special holiday overlays. I always make a stop at the Haunted Mansion to visit the ghosts! The after hours events can give guests the opportunity to get on a ton of different rides with relatively short wait times in a quick period of time. This is definitely the priority of some of the guests who attend. I have walked onto Seven Dwarfs Mine Train during the Halloween party myself- so worth it!

Overall, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a fantastic event to consider for your trip this fall. There is something special to experience for each and every guest. I hope that after reading this, you are just as excited about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party as I am! I assure you, you will love every second.
